Next year, for the first time ever, the FISM™ European Championships of Magic™ will be held. Top magicians from all over Europe will gather to perform their spectacular and astonishing acts in hopes of being able to be known as the very best magicians in Europe.

Out of the countries thought to host the first edition of the FISM™ European Championships of Magic™, the FISM™ Europe Executive Board had narrowed down the choices to three cities; Sofia (Bulgaria), Prague (Czech Republic) and Aix-les-Bains (France). On 13 June, 2007 Sofia, Bulgaria was announced to be the winner. Sofia will be the home of the first ever European Championships of Magic™ where the Bulgarian Magic Union will be responsible for organising, developing, and hosting this event.

Chinese magician Shen Juan won one of the top prizes at the 79th Annual International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Convention, according to the China Acrobats Association (CAA).

Shen represented CAA in the Stage Competition and became the first Chinese winner with a performance mixing magic with traditional Chinese dance, the association told Xinhua here Tuesday.

Magician Criss Angel's wife says the magic has gone from their marriage and she now wants to make him vanish from her life.

Angel, the punky illusionist known for his "Mindfreak" show on the A&E cable television network, subdued his sometimes flashy look at a court hearing Friday. But he displayed a bit of humor during a break, gesturing toward his estranged wife's lawyer and saying, "I can make him disappear."

The 39-year-old Angel, whose real name is Christopher Sarantakos, and his wife, Joanne, 37, married five years ago, after a decade of dating, according to her lawyer, Dominic Barbara. But the magician kept quiet about his marriage and then deserted his wife as he became famous and hasn't given her "a cent" of his millions, Barbara said.

VIDEO, at one point, was going to kill the radio star (it sure took its sweet time with John Laws). The net was going to wipe out books, CDs were going to make vinyl extinct and the coalition of the willing was going to rid the world of terror. The reports of the deaths of everything are routinely exaggerated.

That said, television nearly killed magic. According to Ross Skiffington, one of Australia's most long-established magicians and illusionists, watching magic on television has all the allure and point of trying to eat a cardboard cut-out of a roast dinner.

American magician Adrian Van Vactor performed in about a dozen Southern villages over the the last week. "We were able to come for a small while to bring a smile and a touch of hope," he said. Van Vactor also performed his illusions on Saturday at the Madina Theater, in his first visit to the capital. He has performed internationally for 10 years, visiting 20 countries and doing tricks for hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Actress Pamela Anderson has hinted she is romantically involved with Las Vegas illusionist Hans Klok.

The former "Baywatch" star, whose divorce from second husband Kid Rock was finalized earlier this year, is currently performing as Dutchman Klok's assistant in his Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino show, "The Beauty of Magic."

And it seems Klok has worked his magic on the mother-of-two.

Speaking on "Today" on Wednesday, "I am (in love with him). Hans is special. And he's Dutch. My mother's part-Dutch so she's very happy about this."
